One of the things we love most about Quyle Kilns is the opportunity to bring new ideas, techniques, and talented artists into our little corner of the Sierra foothills. This year we’re especially excited to welcome several professional ceramic artists to teach ceramics workshops here in Murphys, California, right in the heart of Calaveras County.
Quyle Kilns is located at historic Brice Station, a beautiful rural spot that has become a creative destination in the foothills. The old stage stop now includes a working ceramics studio, gallery, vineyard tasting room, a blacksmith shop, and a concert venue. It’s the kind of place where you can spend the afternoon in the ceramics shop, finding one of a kind hand-made items, have some wine, wander the sculpture garden at the top of the hill, then attend an evening concert.
For many years Quyle Kilns has been a place where people come to learn, experiment, and fall in love with clay. We regularly invite visiting artists to share their techniques and experience with our clay community. We hope to see you!
Four Ceramics Workshops
Our first workshop of the season is Slab-O-Rama with Lynn Wood, affectionately known as the “Pottery Texture Queen.” Lynn has a wonderful eye for surface and form, and in this workshop she’ll explore creative slab techniques and ways to incorporate texture into ceramic work.
